As much as this doesnt get constant blogs posted, just  usually something random happening in my life (which as far as im aware, is all the time!), i think for a year old, its still an achievement in some form, it may not reach to many people and wont appeal to many, espiecially on an important topic, but it allows me to be open to express whats going on, and anyone ive met online prop looking at it, and thinking, “God..this is a random guy talking nonsense, *close tab and ignore future postings*”

But im not put off by that as much, sure, its not the greatest blog, it will never be something that will be a huge hit on the web (but i can wish cant i?).

Blogs are like public diaries and may not contain really really secret stuff like girls do if they have a diary and write about their latest crush (I’m only taking a wild stab at this so dont throw hate mail my way!) and lock it away so no one else can read it. If you wanted todo that online, your better off having a OpenOffice/Word document and keep it on a flash drive hidden away in your bedside/clothing draw. The idea behind this blog, is to let people understand how i live and why i dont have much of a life.
But what ive achieved is on a personal level, i cant force people to keep liking what i put up, your entitled to hate it and ignore it, but i can only hope one day i have a blog post that gets read and liked and it keeps people’s attention. I dont ever plan to writing up soley for latest technological advances or movie reviews, or something that doesnt appeal to me but might for others, mainly as, there are alot of other people who do that already. So what point would be having another blog on the web that does that? I may give my opinion on it, but dont expect a ground-breaking, theory de-bunking post about it. (I.E. my WebGL post somewhere back there in the collection), like everything it has Pro’s and Con’s.

Anyway, ive rambled on abit too long here, now its time for a question for whoever reads this blog, What kind of post would you like me to post up about? It has to be sensiable, and doesnt contridict any of the above. (That is going to be tough isnt it!?)

• Get a Job (either here in New Zealand or abroad)
• Get stuck into the following bits of coding:
• PHP/MySQL (Basically expand my knowledge)
• Perl would be a handy option too
• HTML5, CSS, Javascript – JQuery, WebGL
• Ajax

Its a rough outline of what is going to be undoubtly going to be an interesting year especially on the job front..I would still like to consider abroad simply for placing  myself in a good web dev position when im ready to make the move to I.T., but it will be somewhat harder to get the job from here nad get over there, but no harm in trying right?

Either way, ive got to motivate myself this year, as i decided not to head back to LSV (for those who know about it..)

Oh another thing i would like to get done sometime hopefully this half of the year (January – June)  is the removal of this blog to move to a custom basic CMS i have sitting on my server that needs alot of work done to make the switch…and a domain (proper hosting aswell)

Maybe get some youtube vids up…that would be somewhat an interesting goal..maybe not too frequent but enough to pretty much make use of my youtube account

Ive bought about 6 games from the specials and so ive spent quite abit of money on them XD

I bought the following games:

• Assassin’s Creed 2: Deluxe Edition – $26.24 USD
• Battlefield 2: Complete Collection – $3.74 USD
• Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Standard Edition – $13.60 USD
• Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition – $14.99 USD
• Mini Ninja’s – $9.99 USD
• DiRT 2 – $4.99 USD

So you could say roughly ive prop spent just under $100NZD on steam games in the last week XD
It has been hard resisting on a couple of games simply due to price and would i play it as much (for example, GTA: IV, Just Cause 2) so yeah.

So now its going to be hard not buying any more steam games for a while XD

Right then, to put it bluntly the job market isn’t great here in New Zealand and its prop not as great overseas as well but its probably better than here, but anyway, ive decided id at least consider looking for work overseas, at this stage im going out of my reach and look at either United Kingdom or United States for retail work if i can. You may be thinking “Dave/ddwagnz has not really thought of the flaws and problems surrounding this idea” or along those lines, but i have considered the flaws in the plan and problems that surround this decision.
The reason ive choose this is, mainly as i may find it easier to get a retail job for a few years till i can decided on a career move like moving into I.T ie web or something and if i move i would be in a better position to get something and not have to wait for something in nz to open up, as the I.T industry here isn’t great admittedly. I’m not promising i could be getting something overseas but im just saying I’m looking into it, if nothing is going for me here.
Its the best atm i can do, and if something comes up in one of those two countries then so much the better and i can somehow get some sort of sponsorship or something to allow me to become a citizen and get over there to live etc.

But that’s the general plan, so! what can you do to help? well if you know any good job search sites in either of those two countries, that usually post good retail jobs (if its in the states if you have local city/state job sites that are good, tell!)

So yeah pretty ambitious, your probably thinking why not keep this blog, or use a proper wordpress installation on a real server, well i only dont want to, mainly as I want to use something thats mine and suits more to what i need it for rather than have a bloated (not that wordpress is  but can be) cms. Also i can leave open to new code to put in when i make changes locally, i.e. add-ons, fix any issues with relative ease rather than google searching for answers on a particular cms i downloaded.

I’ll add a sub-section on here under projects for this so i can post pics of its progress.

This post was made while playing the song “Broken Machine – Zowie” (See i told you it was serious XD)

been ages since last post, but i’m doing this now as its er happened and i need to stress this point to most people while i can…

As you all no doubt have heard, i live in a city in New Zealand which was recently hit with a 7.1 earthquake and aftershocks are still happening. And im quite freaked out still, tired and overall stressed over this, even though i have no job or that, but im very much worried almost every minute of everyday.

Right, as i was saying, For the time being, and i don’t think I’ll want to go into too much detail for a few months (i’ll prop forget but just try and remember this post) that goes for pretty much everyone who reads this, ie IRC peeps and fb and twitter peeps

Its not fun, and even though im fine, its really psychologically and mentally unhinged me, and am very nervous every night and most of the day and evening while at home.

I may talk about it but don’t drawl on it too long…

So woke up wednesday morning as i couldnt sleep any longer, (i know trying to sleep in on my b/day and i couldnt do it!) anyway, i had a bit of a busy day, had the usual happy b/day greeting from folks, they went out, then i had to go out myself due to Work and Income seminar thingy i had to go to.

I treated myself to a Wendy’s Shake’n'Dog as i couldnt be assed waiting at McDonald’s (this is at Northlands for those who live in chch and read this!) and i had a hour or so to kill in the mall and bumped into my second-cousin while grabbing lunch so that was abit of a surprise XD

So i went to the W&I thing and then came home, my dad’s uncle and aunt came round and i got a hand-made wooden pen that my dad’s uncle made from New Zealand Yew wood by the looks of things (will show pic of it later)

Then we had a brief relaxing moment as to wait for sister to get home from work and then go out to dinner to the New York Steak House,  i invited my mate to join us,

Now usually apparently the 21st is traditional with a cutting of a cake, well i didn’t want a cake this year and so i thought id do something different., I did the traditional cutting of my meal which was a chicken dish which was very nice and for desert i had a Traditional Banana Split which was really nice as well

Presents were:

$100 from my grandparents

$150 Gift Card thingy to Hallensteins from my sister

Two steam games from my mate

150 for clothes and 150 towards a monitor from parents

and the pen from my dad’s uncle and auntie

Mainly as, i have a few assignments still outstanding and it is too late to get them done. I could apply for an extension but, right now i feel that i wouldn’t still get it done, and so I’ve accepted the fact that i have failed the course.

With the talking i have had with the HoD, i feel i have learned what i wanted to get out of this course and have also have some things to learn to change myself so that if i do apply for a job in the web industry i can get on with it, with confidence and motivation to get things done on time and on schedule.

So it may seem Ive wasted the last ten months by failing but i don’t think i have, i had learned more than when i started the course and i can leave knowing i did my best even though i failed.

I still want to do web coding after this course regardless of outcome and i think personally experience might see my through to a job of some kind in the future.

To think that many people in the course quit early on, and gave up, is saying something to me that even though i failed, i never quit the course , i stuck through. Even though there were times i had thought about quitting, especially during industry assignment, i gave it my all.

So yeah…I wont be attending the course completion ceremony not because i failed but i don’t feel any need or want to go. I would rather be forgetting about this course after tomorrow and start the hunt for a job.
